Rutgers Youth Sports S.A.F.E.T.Y. (Sports Awareness For Educating Today's Youth) Orientation & Training Workshop satisfies the “’Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs’ (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity to volunteer coaches as per the ‘Little League Law’ (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)
This certification is MANDATORY for all managers, coaches and any parents who want to be on the field or in the dugout (even if you’re just helping out, not in any official coach capacity on the team)
- Please note that your Rutgers certification is VALID even if you obtained it elsewhere
- Once certified, your Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y certification is valid indefinitely
- If you lost your card, please contact Rutgers to obtain a replacement card (https://youthsports.rutgers.edu/card-replacement-request/)
- Please email a photo/copy of the front and rear of your Rutgers certification card and email them to your league commissioner
If interested in volunteering, you MUST contact your league commissioner prior to attending this class.
2023 SPRING SEASON
There is one class being offered by the Bridgewater Rec Department which will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Bridgewater Senior Center (455 Somerville Road).
The class runs from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please arrive no later than 6:45 p.m., the door will be locked at 7:00 p.m., no one will be permitted to enter the class after 7:00.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I just attend a class without registering?
No. Class seats are limited so all coaches must pre-register on this site as walk-ins will NOT be accepted.
Is there a cost to take this class?
There is no cost but you MUST be pre-approved by one of the Bridgewater Baseball and Softball Inc (BBSI) league commissioners.
What if I can't make the class on March 27?
If you are in need of certification and have a conflict with the above date, contact the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council at (848)932-7178 or visit their website at www.youthsports.rutgers.edu for other clinics in the area.
You will be responsible for paying the registration fee ($35) upfront.
To get reimbursed, you can email a photo of your Rutgers safety card (front and back) and a payment receipt to: eddiealonso1974 (at) gmail (dot) com.
A check will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks.
